Punch List
Created 02 Feb 2024
  1. This Spring semester, I will volunteer at a local NYC recycling center for a minimum of four hours.
  2. Every month, I will make one phone call to each of my Congresspeople to advocate for (or against) a current bill or issue.
  3. Starting now, I will reduce my meat and dairy consumption daily by increasing my plant-based food intake and eating more vegetables, fruits, whole grains, legumes, nuts and seeds, aiming to transition to a more sustainable and plant-focused diet.
  4. Immediately, I will cut my consumption and waste by shopping more intentionally, only buying clothes and items that I need, and eliminating unnecessary purchases just because I want something.
  5. I will start reducing my energy use now, by making sure to turn off any lights that don’t need to be on and unplugging electronics when not in use, and educating my household members so that we can also reduce our electricity bill each month.
  6. Immediately, I will adopt intentional shopping habits by purchasing only necessary items and limiting impulsive and unnecessary buys. I will create a shopping list and stick to it when making purchases, prioritizing needs over wants.
  7. Reduce water consumption by limiting my showers to a maximum of 10 minutes (I really love long showers). I will use a timer to track and limit shower time and implement the 10-minute shower limit starting immediately.
  8. Save 10% of all income this semester to be donated to environmental and social justice causes and organizations each month. I will calculate and track the donation amounts on an excel spreadsheet, and set aside funds consistently while managing other financial responsibilities.

A punch list can be for an individual, family, community, company, or city.  It is the list of the actions you or a group will undertake and accomplish over a predetermined span of time—one month, one year, five years, or more. You can make different lists for different time periods—this week and this year for example.
