Nexus Research Team

Tim Treuer is an Alaskan, ecologist, and freelance science writer. He recently completed a Gund Postdoc Fellowship at the University of Vermont where he researched the use of reforestation to address multiple challenges, including malaria risk, in Madagascar. He was also an AAAS Mass Media Fellow at PBS-Nova in Boston, which he completed during the final months of his Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at Princeton. He also had the honor of being one of the researchers/writers for Regeneration (Seaforestation and Azolla). In addition to writing for Nexus, he has also been doing a deep dive on a project looking at the synergies between seaweed farming and coral reef preservation. In his personal life, he has been doing a lot of recreation centered on water, both liquid (diving, packrafting, kayaking) and frozen (nordic ice skating and every flavor of skiing that doesn’t involve helicopters or motorboats).
