George Biesmans is a writer, peacebuilder, and guide working at the intersection of nature, conflict, and peacebuilding. He’s a linguist and political scientist by training, a path that has taken him from Durham University in northern England to the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna - via places like Iraqi Kurdistan and Seville. He’s worked on EU climate policy for a Brussels-based think-tank, written training content for a nature and climate education organization, and designed and facilitated peacebuilding programmes with the Outward Bound Center for Peacebuilding. He’s a certified forest bathing guide, supporting people in cultivating their relationships with the more-than-human world of nature. Home has been many places for George, most recently, the rugged, wet coasts of Vancouver Island in Canada and Italy’s wild Apennines mountains. He never feels more at home than when he’s in nature, be it camping under the stars, hiking mountain trails, or simply sitting under the forest canopy. When he’s not outdoors, he’s cheering on his beloved Liverpool FC, singing songs from musicals, or trying to play the piano.
