Punch List

  1. With the amount of STUFF that we purchase, the dumps are filling up and releasing many greenhouse gases into the air. The process of making the items is also one of the factors contributing to global warming. I plan not to buy many unnecessary things. I will not go to a clearance shop just because something is "on sale." I am notorious and need to change this to lower my waste.
  2. Vehicles release a lot of CO2, which pollutes the air. I never make a list when I go grocery shopping and buy whatever I want. (I Forget a lot of things, which causes me to make multiple trips.) I am going to start planning out more and making a list; that way, it will not be so many trips, reducing my carbon footprint.
  3. We use fossil fuels at a rate that does not make them sustainable. If your house runs on nonrenewable electricity, this is part of the cause. I leave everything plugged in all the time. I intend to unplug more things when not using them, reduce the phantom load, and conserve energy as much as possible. (I will start this process by making sure the 3 phone chargers that are always plugged in are unplugged and work my way up from there.)
  4. Companies do not take into consideration how they are contributing to climate change. The chemicals they use to grow their crops are being put on the ground and into the air. I plan on buying organic food as much as possible. Supporting this type of growing process will help reduce the amount of pesticides and other harsh chemicals. When the harsh chemicals are put on crops, it not only pollutes the air, but the runoff contaminated water.
  5. Not all people in the world know how big of a crisis we are in or how damaging we truly are. I plan to continue to educate myself more and educate others. If I can open the minds of more, then word of mouth travels. Along with parents practicing good habits and passing them down to their children. I will continue to read one article per week about environmental sustainability or what is being done to be more.

A punch list can be for an individual, family, community, company, or city.  It is the list of the actions you or a group will undertake and accomplish over a predetermined span of time—one month, one year, five years, or more. You can make different lists for different time periods—this week and this year for example.
