- Actively working against food waste: Each week, I will go through everything I have and meal plan based around that before going to the store. I do this sometimes, but my consistency could be much better. I do not generate much food waste, but I would still like to be more intentional about it and prevent it as much as possible. Our apartment is small, our storage limited, and at times things can get somewhat forgotten. But because of this, I do rely primarily on shelf-stable and frozen goods and long-lasting produce.
- Being more mindful of water consumption: I can easily lose track of time--this includes in the shower, especially if I have had a bad day and next thing you know, I've taken a very long shower. I will take 10 minute showers to save water. I think for this, I will make music playlists that are all 10 minutes long. When it ends, I know it's time to wrap it up.
- Reducing/repurposing over recycling when possible: Paper is water-intensive and I have been recycling. But I want to be creative with reusing it before it reaches the recycling step, which is not a perfect solution.
- Being more in tune with my local environment: One thing humanity has largely lost is foraging, which is really sad. We have to much available to us, but as usable land decreases, so do the natural services. I would like to study the forageable plants around me and while I cannot rely on these things fully, I can certainly incorporate some things seasonally and just feel more connected to the natural world.
A punch list can be for an individual, family, community, company, or city. It is the list of the actions you or a group will undertake and accomplish over a predetermined span of time—one month, one year, five years, or more. You can make different lists for different time periods—this week and this year for example.
